  • Using our content or talking with us does not make us your parent's nurse, attorney or financial professional.
  • Always check decisions about health, legal papers and money with the right licensed professional.

Educational guidance only

The information on www.askeldervisor.com and in our emails, social media, videos, quiz, roadmaps, products, workshops and calls is for general education. It is meant to help you understand the care system and plan your next steps. It is not medical, nursing, legal, financial, tax or insurance advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a professional who knows your family's situation.

About our experience

AskEldervisor is led by Bahamia Bailey, a licensed practical nurse with more than 20 years of clinical and operational experience in geriatric care and care navigation. Through AskEldervisor she shares guidance and education. She does not provide nursing care, assess, diagnose or treat anyone, or give medical advice about your parent, and no nurse-patient or other professional relationship is created by using our content or services.

Medical and health decisions

Always ask your parent's doctor, pharmacist or care team before making changes to medications, treatment or care. Never ignore professional medical advice or delay getting it because of something you read or heard from us.

Emergencies

If you or your parent may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you or someone you care for is in emotional crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Legal, financial and benefits topics

We are not attorneys, accountants or financial advisors. When we talk about powers of attorney, advance directives, guardianship, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans benefits, long-term care costs or paying for care, it is general information. Rules vary by state and change often. For decisions about legal papers, benefits or money, please speak with an elder law attorney, a financial professional or the benefits office involved.

Accuracy and changes

We work to keep our information accurate and current, but programs, costs and rules change, and mistakes can happen. Please confirm important details with official sources, such as Medicare.gov, your state Medicaid office or the agency involved.

Your results

Every family and care situation is different. We cannot promise any particular result from using our content, products or services.

Tools and templates

Our worksheets, scripts and planning tools are examples to adapt to your situation. Calculations in our spreadsheets are estimates. Please double-check numbers before relying on them for financial decisions.

Links, products and affiliates

We sometimes mention or link to other organizations, products and services. A mention is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for their content or services. Some links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. We will label affiliate links and only recommend things we believe are useful.
